![]() Try using Particle Settings > Lifetime > Lifetime Sorting: Linear/Reversed.Manipulators would be to your great benefit in controlling the behavior, where you could retarget particles over time.By setting the Animation Curve you can make particles transition back to its source position with high level of control to make explode-implode behaviors. I personally enjoyed the anime so I didn’t mind it at all, but it definitely stuck out to me as strange.Īs strange as the anime tie-ins may be, everything else felt incredibly comfortable especially the battles. ![]() Yo-kai Watch 2 did things a bit differently however, throwing in previously anime-exclusive storylines such as Jibanyan moving in to the player’s house (also becoming a core focus of the plot), and Komasan traveling around Springdale. Usually when a game is made, an anime adaptation does its best to mimic plot points from the game. While the time-travel story arc is entirely new, unique, and entertaining, I did find myself scratching my head a bit at the anime tie-ins. The way you return home after every adventure deepens your immersion in Nate/Katie’s everyday life. This episodic structure provides a more realistic deception of how a child would actually handle a situation like this. As in the first game, the storyline is broken up into episodic segments that help to break up the pacing of the story. The main focus of the story involves either Nate or Katie traveling back in time in order to help their grandfather (either Nathaniel or Kenny, depending upon your chosen protagonist) fight off a long-extinct breed of Yo-kai known as the Wicked Tribe. Yo-kai Watch 2‘s story picks up soon after the events of the first game, and presents itself as a rather curious mixture: one part sequel and one part anime tie-in. A few other little details are also tweaked depending upon which version you play, such as certain conversations (I won’t spoil anything) and minor quests, but that’s about it. For those who are curious: the main difference between Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls lies within the version-exclusive Yo-kai that you can befriend. Now that it’s here though, I have but one question does it really live up to all of the hype created by Japan back in 2014?įor simplicity’s sake, I’m going to drop the Fleshy Souls part of the name after this paragraph because – as is the case with many multi-versioned games – there aren’t any changes between the two games so drastic they demand I constantly dictate which version I’m playing. ![]() Well it’s 2016 now and, although it’s a tad late, Yo-kai Watch 2 finally wandered on over to North America in the guise of Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls. ![]() Meanwhile, the rest of the world had never even heard of Yo-kai Watch. Just one year later, Yo-kai Watch 2 released in two separate versions Ganso and Honke (a third version was released too, but that isn’t really important). Riding on the coattails of the first game’s popularity, Yo-kai Watch 2 quickly climbed to the top of the sales charts, and received critical praise from Japanese video game critics. Following the success of the first Yo-kai Watch – which had been released all the way back in 2013 – the franchise’s popularity exploded within Japan, causing it to become a household name especially among families with children. What you may not know is just how well it did. Those familiar with Yo-kai Watch already know that though the series is relatively new in most parts of the world, it’s actually been around in Japan for quite some time – and has been doing pretty well up until now. ![]() ![]() On the former three apps, sharing is as easy as copying a screenshot link and sending it to colleagues, collaborators, or clients. Just reactor startup alone takes dozens of highly trained individuals. They wouldn't even know where to begin to operate a machine like this. A group of bandits are going to successfully steam a nuclear submarine across the ocean? Yeah. I mean, I guess that's more an opinion of mine rather than a fact. It just doesn't sound natural at all.īasically, the entire dialog in this DLC is a giant mess.Ĥ. I noticed this also happens with Tom and the Captain. Sometimes Sam is yelling when Tom is talking normally. ![]() When Sam and Tom are speaking to one another, their voice inflection and volume just doesn't make sense for their scenes. I think the voice actors read their lines individually and then they (producers/devs) interwove them to make the dialog appear that is two or more people talking. But I don't believe they did it like this. Generally, voice actors do lines together if the scene calls for them to be talking to one another. Another issue with the dialog is its painfully obvious that the voice actors didn't record together in a room for scenes that required them to speak to one another. I saw this issue with the main game but its even more pronounced with this DLC.ģ. There are times when a group of people are talking and a single NPC will ask a question but before he can even get out what he wants to say, other NPCs will answer the question!! What the h3ll is that about?!? The closed caption dialog is a total mess too as answers/responses from NPCs will be displayed on screen before the question that even proceeded it had been finished. But you can't even do that because of another problem with the game which bring me to my next issue.Ģ. Between Sam's cheesy one liners all the time and the voice actor who did Tom, I really wanted to just turn the voice volume down totally and rely on CC. Did they not budget enough money for decent voice actors? It sounds like they decided to just pick up a few schmucks off of Fiverr for $25 each and have them do the voiceovers. ![]() The next Metro Exodus DLC, Sam’s Story, will apparently release on February 11, 2020.For some reason I can't seem to leave a review of this DLC. Metro Exodus DLC Sam’s Story Release Date Confirmed Specifically, folks are interested to see just when Sam’s Story will release, and now thanks to an accidental leak on the official Metro Exodus website, now we know. In this expansive ‘sandbox survival’ level, players will experience another gripping story line featuring new characters, weapons and mutant variants, in a huge, non-linear environment that offers hours of gameplay. However, to complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected. Sam, determined to find a way back to the USA, departed from the Aurora to make his way through Vladivostok’s tsunami ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts. The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didn’t feel so foolish anymore. Sam had long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and perhaps even finding his father alive. Sam’s Story follows former US Marine Sam, a Spartan Ranger who has worked under Colonel Miller since the nuclear war devastated Moscow, and followed Artyom in search of a world outside of the Metro. ![]() ![]() From this set, we excluded all the individuals with somatic MED12 and HMGA2 driver alterations or somatic/germline FH defects detected in at least one of their ULs. This follows the classical two-hit theory,Īnd 54 individuals of subsequently collected tissue samples. ![]() ![]() In our sample collection of Finnish individuals with ULs, examination of tumors from individuals with a germline mutation showed that, similar to the somatic setting, genes encoding SRCAP complex subunits frequently displayed a second hit, inactivating the remaining normal allele. Here, we were able to identify a significant association between UL and LoF variants in four genes encoding SRCAP complex subunits, YEATS4, ZNHIT1, DMAP1, and ACTL6A, and to place mutations in this gene group as a major cause of moderate-penetrance UL predisposition. This finding led us to explore in the present study the relative contribution of pathogenic germline mutations affecting the SRCAP complex in the full release of UK Biobank (UKB) exomes and to search for germline mutations in genes encoding SRCAP complex subunits in our sample collection of Finnish individuals with ULs. We also discovered an association between the incidence of UL and hereditary loss-of-function (LoF) variants in two genes encoding SRCAP complex subunits, YEATS4 and ZNHIT1. Our results establish inactivation of genes encoding SRCAP complex subunits as a central contributor to moderate-penetrance UL predisposition. Decreased H2A.Z staining was observed in the tumors, providing further evidence for the pathogenic nature of the germline mutations. When a somatic second hit was found, ACTL6A and DMAP1 were silenced in tumors by somatic mutation and YEATS4 by promoter hypermethylation. These individuals had large and/or multiple ULs, were often diagnosed at an early age, and many had family history of ULs. We detected one individual with an ACTL6A splice-site mutation, two individuals with a YEATS4 missense mutation, and four individuals with DMAP1 mutations: one splice-site, one nonsense, and two missense variants. To examine this disease phenotype more closely, we set out to identify inherited mutations affecting the SRCAP complex in our in-house sample collection of Finnish individuals with ULs (n = 860). Moderate-penetrance UL risk was largely attributed to rare non-synonymous mutations affecting the SRCAP complex. ![]() Positive mutation status was also associated with younger age at diagnosis and hysterectomy. Here, we examined loss-of-function variants across 18,899 genes in a cohort of 233,614 White European women, revealing variants in four genes encoding SRCAP complex subunits ( YEATS4, ZNHIT1, DMAP1, and ACTL6A) with a significant association to ULs, and YEATS4 and ZNHIT1 strikingly rank first and second, respectively. Established predisposition genes explain only partially the estimated heritability of leiomyomas. Somatic alterations in MED12, HMGA2, FH, genes encoding subunits of the SRCAP complex, and genes involved in Cullin 3-RING E3 ligase neddylation are mutually exclusive UL drivers. This is true of both Resolution and Quality modes but in almost 95% or more of the time it is paced at 33ms per frame, and from my tested sections it never tears at all. Still, they are brief and much rarer than on the Series S. Not great, but certainly never bad, and most of the time it was a solid 30fps with only fleeting issues.įrame-pacing or skips infrequently also pop up on Series X, again very minor, but when moving between sections it can have these skips, likely memory related. Again, it is brief, but it can happen in GPU and bandwidth/fill rate-heavy sections with enemies on screen, and with alpha textures and blood in play you can get into the mid-20s for very minor stints with tearing when it happens. It uses an adaptive V-sync, allowing the screen to tear if the target is missed. ![]() Series S runs at 30fps, and it does a good job of keeping close to that in action and traversal, but it can present some frame-pacing or skipping into 50 then 16ms issues when running over rooftops, albeit brief and mild. Read the full Dying Light 2 Stay Human review Performance No patch can fix the forgettable main plot or the protagonist I couldn’t pick out of a police lineup even after 80 hours in his shoes, but Dying Light 2’s streets tell their own stories. For now, though, it’s best added to your backlog unless your irritation with crashes and technical issues is outweighed by eagerness to dance across rooftops with its excellent parkour, which – when everything works – is an unforgettable way to explore the last city’s open world and join in the post-apocalyptic stories of its many weird and distinctive characters. What We Said About Dying Light 2 Stay HumanĪnother in a long series of big, ambitious games whose potential greatness is visible just beneath a grimey layer of bugs, Dying Light 2 Stay Human could very likely become the stellar zombie survival adventure it’s meant to be someday. That makes sense based on hardware specs of the high CU count and this older DX11-capable engine (it does also support DX12 due to the ray tracing), but it is very much a game and engine focused on the previous generation’s technology. Visually, though, even zoomed in the PS5 looks the same as Series X, but pixel counts show it has a minor reduction. Also, the sharpening pass on textures is reduced in this mode, which means high-frequency texture details do not differ as much as the pixel counts suggest. It makes for a fuzzy and hazy image at times, which can be exaggerated by low light, lens flare, and bloom. ![]() PC is the best among them at this, as you can adjust motion blur and other settings more. The increase from the 1080p base is instantly visible and, although far from a drastic game changer (largely due to the noisy post-processed image from radial blur on motion that funnels your view with a peripheral blur and then chromatic aberration along with per-object motion blur and even film grain) you can disable that. The resolution mode does give us a difference, though, with the PS5's 3264x1836 being 10% lower than the Series X's 3456x1944. It does deliver decent image quality on a 1080p screen, but on a 4K screen the relatively low pixel level is apparent – not all due to pixel counts alone, though. It tops and bottoms out at 1920x1080 with no signs of dynamic resolution scaling or DSR, but it is pushing this little 4 teraflop GPU hard, even at the 30fps Performance level. The lower-end Xbox Series S, which only has a single mode. Also, the settings menu has good options with fast, low, high, and RT settings or tweaks across key areas such as ambient occlusion, motion blur, particles and those ray tracing additions. ![]() Oddly, though, they are screen space on horizontal planes such as water surfaces but ray traced on vertical surfaces to enhance material reactions, even at the highest settings. The PC version improves on this with more refined ray-traced shadows – or at least more of them – but the improved reflections also help. Some indoor or outdoor settings show minimal improvement while others really add radiosity bounce from surface colours and illuminate covered areas with greater light than any direct source would deliver. The benefit of the ray-traced shadows is obvious in many areas but the GI bounce, which appears close or the same as high settings from the PC in Performance mode and Medium in the Quality mode, is mixed. ![]() ![]() Her more understated looks came after she raised eyebrows with her designer wardrobe on date nights with her husband, in outfits costing thousands of pounds. Having character portrait options is very good but the actual game still looks basically like the PSP version, albeit at a higher resolution. Star Ocean: First Departure R plays great and mostly looks great, too. It also isn’t a very long JRPG or a very good one on either PS4 or Nintendo Switch but I’m always happy when older games that aren’t available digitally are brought to modern systems. The game feels the same on both systems when docked but being able to also play it on the go on Switch makes this version better. If you’re wondering whether Star Ocean: First Departure R is worth buying on PS4 over Nintendo Switch, I’ve enjoyed it a lot more on Nintendo Switch. Having looked at some footage of the original release for Star Ocean, those environments look like they would scale up to HD displays better. ![]() The environment could’ve used some touching up because while the characters look nice even while moving, the environment looks very dated. On Nintendo Switch, Star Ocean: First Departure R doesn’t make use of the touchscreen at all. I was hoping there would be some major quality of life improvements. If you already played this on PSP, I wouldn’t recommend getting this version just for new voice acting and portrait options. In terms of content, those are the only major additions to this release. In addition to English voice acting, you can also play the game with the Japanese PSP voice acting or a new Japanese audio track specially done for Star Ocean: First Departure R. Star Ocean: First Departure R is a remaster of a PSP remake of the first Star Ocean game for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Ever since that hit PS4, Square Enix has slowly been bringing more of the older games to current platforms. Square Enix’s Star Ocean franchise is something I had been wanting to check out for a while and I finally gave it a shot through Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness which was something I did not enjoy at all.
